To get real about purpose, we need to recognise that value is created collectively. Here at Wesley Quarter we believe we can achieve this by building partnerships between us, our retailers, you and your community. We want everyone who comes to Wesley Quarter to be able to shop with purpose. To think of a world where buying a cup of coffee, a pair of shoes, your new jeans or a gift for someone did more than just that. At Wesley Quarter we are partnering with our retailers, community, consumers and charity to do more. To give back, to share, to support and to act with purpose.

In conjunction with our property managers, Lease Equity, we have a process in place to assess all ‘scrap’ material created as a result of refurbishment or renovation within our portfolio.

This ensures where possible we can apply adaptive re-use principles. Recently while refurbishing an old office area at Trinity Buildings, we came across a stock of 1970’s plastic floor tiles. Our Level Up programme participants were delighted to have the opportunity to re-use them and created a sensory wall for Autism WA.

We also have one of the largest solar panel installations in the CBD, generating 5% of the office tower’s power requirement. We also have 9,000 litres of rainwater collected in tanks in the basement car park which is used to flush the toilets in our state-of-the-art end of trip facility. And we have created a roof garden on the top of Wesley Quarter where we have beehives who are busy creating our premium quality Wesley Quarter honey.

Level Up was originally a UnitingCare West program, created to provide purposeful training to people with significant barriers to entry into the work force, as part of the Government's 'Work for the Dole' scheme.

Unlike many such schemes, Level Up provides significant work experience, leading to participants gaining access to employment or education pathways.

We have established a number of meaningful programmes teaching work skills such as cooking, food handling, carpentry, art, graphic design and basic administration alongside life skills like teamwork, public speaking, organisation and planning.

Our Level Up programme participants produce approx. 9,000 meals a year from the kitchen, all of which are redistributed through another partner, Street Friends, who give them to people living rough in the CBD every Thursday.

CARAD is the Centre for Asylum seekers, Refugees and Detainees and provides essential welfare and advocacy support to asylum seekers, refugees and detainees in Western Australia.

In conjunction with Chemist Discount Warehouse we have established a programme where CARAD clients have access to medication and pharmacy supplies with CARAD being billed at cost. Another way in which to support our community.

We’ve also used our contacts to source mobile telephones for asylum seekers in detention. and mobile devices to approx. 50% of all asylum seekers in detention in Australia and we are working with one of our tenants to source enough for the other 50%.

Over the last few years the Uniting Church in the City (UCIC) has run a blanket appeal, resulting in over 500 blankets being collected and donated to various homeless services providers. The blankets come from members of the congregation, students and knitters of Trinity School for Seniors, various contacts who are aware of our appeal and through an annual donation by the Western Australian Quilters Association. This year we are partnering with our retailers as our blanket drop off points.

Life changing coffee. UCIC is a part of a collaborative effort to set up Change Please in Australia . Change Please is a social enterprise coffee business empowering people to break the cycle of homelessness through training and employment as a barista, initially through

Change Please’ coffee outlets and then onto a new job with one of our coffee shop partners. A coffee cart is coming to Wesley Quarter very soon..

Wittner Shoes donate shoes and boots to us every so often. We give all the shoes & boots to a domestic violence refuge. 

Often ladies have to flee dangerous domestic situations without being able to take their possessions with them. 

We can at least supply new shoes.

TSFS has been operating for 40 years, with many classes being based at Wesley for the last 5 years. The school’s vision is to provide ‘Companionship through learning’. We currently have approximately 650 students enrolled, participating in 115 course, 5 days a week. The courses range from languages, to dance, art, creative writing, mah-jong, knitting, Alpha for seniors and much more. The school is all about creating purpose for our seniors, making lasting friendships, staying activate physically and mentally and learning some new skills along the way.

Music has the power to lift up your spirits and put a smile on your face. Music of all different kinds is available eat Wesley throughout the year. On the first and third Friday of each month, we hold a music recital program featuring incredibly talented young musicians, giving them the opportunity to of a live performance experience. We also partner with Lifeline WA to fund raise and raise awareness of Lifelines activities, with Christmas buskers around Wesley Quarter and a series of Christmas music performances in the run up to Christmas.

We have also created a pop up choir called ‘Sing your heart out Perth’ where people can come together early in the morning, learn a song and sing their hearts out and go off into the day feeling thoroughly uplifted.
